I am currently a student at Dartmouth College in Hanover, NH. I plan to major in economics with a minor in Spanish, and enjoy writing for the Dartmouth, the student newspaper. Previously, I wrote and edited for my high school publications, the ReMarker newspaper, and Focus magazine. My past work is available below.

Focus Magazine

  • The Human Effect

    We created this edition to cover humanity’s impact on the planet, examining the problems we cause, how we are fighting them now, and what lies ahead. This edition won best In-depth News/Feature Package for the Newspaper Individual Achievement Awards.

  • Family Matters

    This Focus Magazine that covered the many different family structures on campus. This, we hoped, helped readers on campus understand just how diverse our student body actually was, and that, while we all wear the same uniform, everybody has a unique story.

  • How to Make Money

    This edition of Focus Magazine examined how students at St. Mark’s view success, and served as a showcase of the multitude of career paths that alums took after they graduated. By doing this, we hoped to show students that they aren’t confined to one idea of success.

  • Censored

    I was a staff writer for Focus when we released our issue on the January 6 riots and preserving American democracy. I helped to write this story, a quick piece informing readers of Trump’s ban from social media platforms.

  • Collective Outlook

    I wrote this three-part story for The Human Effect. The story details one of humanity’s real successes in the fight against climate change–closing the Antarctic Ozone hole, and it shows what kind of change is possible through international cooperation.

    This story, which I wrote for How to Make Money, examines how students can be preoccupied with grades. The story discusses how, if students don’t manage their time and expectations appropriately, they allow grades to be detrimental to their mental health.

  • Banned Books

    In February of 2021, an independent school district not far from Dallas banned several books due to their controversial topics. I helped write this award-winning story about the topic for the cover of the ReMarker

  • Ukraine War

    After the war began in Ukraine, I helped write this cover package for the ReMarker that interviewed the spokesman for the state department, parents of students who had lived behind the iron curtain, and people around campus who were donating to Ukraine.

  • On Top of the State

    I wrote this personality profile about a student who won the state competition for poetry out loud: a program where students read poems of their choice to a panel of judges. I wrote about how he found his passion for poetry, and his reaction to winning state.

  • Below the Surface

    This piece covers Victor Vescovo, a St. Mark’s alumnus, and how he enlisted the help of our students to solve one of his technical issues. Vescovo is an explorer who was working on mapping the ocean floor.

    When the war in Ukraine first began, the ReMarker did not have time to release full coverage on it. This was a preliminary story on Putin’s use of propaganda, told through the lens of former USSR citizens.

    After Dallas’s former Chief of Police suddenly resigned, the ReMarker covered the city’s search for a new chief, before they eventually settled on Eddie Garcia. Garcia made it known that he was dedicated to efficiency and community outreach.

  • Breaking the Bubble

    My first story with The Dartmouth covered how the remote location of Dartmouth’s campus can make it difficult to connect with the rest of the world. This piece examined the bubble’s effect on students, as well as solutions to the isolation problem.
